JAKARTA: Penelitian yang dilakukan Kementerian Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata bersama dengan Universitas Udayana terhadap ketersediaan kamar hotel, villa dan pondok wisata di Bali pada 2010 lalu, Bali sebenarnya telah mengalami over-supply. Tahun itu saja Bali sudah kelebihan 9.800 kamar hotel/penginapan.
 
Dengan 55.000 kamar hotel di Bali pada 2010, menurut penelitian itu, sebenarnya Bali tidak memerlukan lagi tambahan kamar hotel hingga 2015 mendatang.Tapi kenyataannya hingga kini banyak pengembang yang kesengsem menanamkan investasinya di Bali dengan membangun hotel atau yang sekarang lagi tren adalah kondominium hotel (kondotel).
 
Bagi Tony Eddy, chairman Tony Eddy & Associates (TEA), ke depan Bali tetap memiliki prospek cerah untuk pasar perhotelan. "Saya kira yang over-supply itu adalah hotel-hotel lama yang sekarang ini sulit memposisikan diri.
